Senate
Candidates Release Tax Information
June 6, 2002 -
The Boulder Daily Camera
| DENVER- U.S. Sen. Wayne
Allard earned $127,962 last year, according to income-tax
records he released this week. Allard, a Republican, makes $144,000 as a senator. The lower figure for his net income was due to money paid into his retirement savings account and losses on real-estate rentals that he was allowed to use as a tax write-off, said his campaign manager Dick Wadhams. Allard's Democratic opponent, former U.S. Attorney Tom Strickland, released his 2001 tax records earlier in the week. He made $168,338 but reported losses of $263,298 in short-term and long-term investments. Libertarian candidate Rick Stanley said he has no plans to release his tax records. Political candidates are not required to release tax records. |
